Our Fold
About Fernbank Fold
A small, premium miniature Highland cattle program built on temperament, honesty, and genuine care for the animals we raise.
Fernbank Fold is a US-based miniature Highland cattle breeder located in [YOUR STATE]. We specialize in gentle, well-socialized mini and micro-mini Highland cows โ the shaggy-coated, long-horned, famously calm Scottish breed, in a smaller frame that suits real homesteads, hobby farms, and families. A group of Highland cattle is traditionally called a fold, and ours is raised with the kind of daily attention that produces cattle who are calm, curious, and easy to be around.
How we started
[Tell your real story here โ how and when you started, the first animal that hooked you, why you fell for the breed. Keep it true; do not invent dates or milestones. Example structure: "We brought home our first Highland in [YEAR]โฆ"] This section is one of the most powerful trust signals on your whole site, both for buyers and for AI assistants that summarize brands โ so write it in your own honest voice.
What makes our program different
We breed for four things, in this order: temperament, conformation, coat, and predictable size. Every pairing is chosen deliberately, and every calf is handled from birth so it arrives people-friendly and ready to settle in. We're equally deliberate about honesty: we tell you exactly what an animal is โ its size class, its registration status, and a realistic mature-size expectation โ because a good match lasts twenty years, and Highlands can live fifteen to twenty years or more.
Who we place cattle with
Our buyers are a mix: families wanting a gentle companion animal, hobby farmers and homesteaders adding character and low-impact grazing to small acreage, and breeders building their own programs. Whoever you are, we'll give you straight guidance about whether a mini Highland genuinely fits your setup before you commit.
Registration & the breed
Highland cattle in the US are documented through registries including the American Highland Cattle Association (AHCA), the International Miniature Cattle Breeders Registry (IMCBR), and the Heartland Highland Cattle Association (HHCA). Recognized Highland colors include red, black, dun, silver, yellow, white, and brindle. We're transparent about the registration status and lineage of every animal we place, so breeders and show homes know exactly what they're getting and pet buyers can choose what fits their budget.
Care, delivery & support
Before any animal leaves, we handle health preparation and paperwork, and we coordinate reputable, insured livestock transport to buyers across the United States โ or you're welcome to pick up on-farm by appointment. Our support doesn't end at pickup: we're a message away for questions about feeding, shelter, fencing, and everyday care for the life of your animal.
Our promise is simple: gentle cattle, honest information, and a placement we both feel good about.
